The Egyptian Antiquities Information System (EAIS) is developed under the authority of Ministry of Antiquities; the system is meant to provide a GIS component for Egyptian historical sites. Another example of program involving the use of GIS in cultural heritage is the Archaeological Map of Egypt developed by the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage. Current situation: a) all levels of implementation, from local to national, b) national information infrastructure under current development, c) GIS applications publicly available, d) main fields of application: heritage management, archaeology, conservation, monument information systems, antiquities security, 3D GIS.
