There is a great diversity of GIS implementations and projects dedicated to cultural heritage in Russian Federation. The Russian Research Institute of Cultural and Natural Heritage is responsible for mapping of the cultural and natural heritage at the national level. Current situation: a) all levels of implementation, from local to national, b) GIS technology included within the national information infrastructure, c) GIS applications publicly available, d) main fields of application: heritage management, archaeology, historic monuments, cultural itineraries, toponymic GIS, sustainable development. |
