The Bureau of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture has established a cultural heritage registration database and a GIS platform website (https://nav.boch.gov.tw/cpl2/testMap) by offering various information about cultural heritage.

Cultural Properties Research Center of the China University of Technology is recognized by the Ministry of Education since 2005. It is a technology research and development center for the conservation and reuse of historical space and related industrial operations. The research team mainly focuses on the management, disaster preparedness, and digital integration to conservation and reuse of cultural heritage. The center owns the following digital technologies including GIS, 3D laser scanning, photogrammetry, and the relevant comprehensive studies resources.

The Center for Geographic Information Science of Academia Sinica built Cultural Resources GIS (crgis.rchss.sinica.edu.tw) covering the country heritage. The use of GIS technology in various applications was reported.

Current situation: a) all levels of implementation, from local to national, b) GIS technology included within the national information infrastructure, c) official GIS applications publicly available, d) main fields of application: heritage management, preservation planning, cultural conservation, historic monuments conservation, risk management.
