The South African Heritage Resources Information System (sahris.sahra.org.za) is fully operational, representing an effective instrument for heritage conservation management and, on another hand, for heritage information, protection and skills development. Current situation: a) all levels of implementation, from local to national, b) GIS technology included within the national information infrastructure, c) GIS applications publicly available, d) main fields of application: heritage management, archaeology, palaeontology, permit application, heritage crime reporting.
