Sistemul Informaţional al Resurselor de Patrimoniu din Africa de Sud (South African Heritage Resources Information System) (sahris.sahra.org.za) este deplin operaţional, reprezintă un instrument eficace pentru managementul activităţilor de conservare precum şi pentru informaţia referitoare la patrimoniu, protecţie şi dezvoltarea meşteşugurilor tradiţionale. Situaţia actuală: a) toate nivelurile de implementare, de la local la national, b) tehnologia GIS este inclusă în cadrul infrastructurii informatice naţionale, c) există aplicaţii GIS publice, d) domenii de aplicare principale: administrarea patrimoniului, arheologie, paleontologie, cereri pentru permise, raportarea ainfracţiunilor asupra patrimoniului.
